Position: Litigation and General Counsel (LGC) Fellow
Duration: One-year term, from November 2025 through November 2026
Salary: $65,000 for 2025 law school graduates, $68,000 for Fellows in their second year or with at least one year of legal experience

Overview:
The Colorado Department of Law (DOL) – Office of the Attorney General is seeking highly motivated and dedicated individuals to join their Fellowship Program as Litigation and General Counsel Fellows. This program offers recent law school graduates the opportunity to gain practical experience in the public sector while serving the residents of Colorado and state agency clients. Fellows will be assigned to one of three sections of the DOL and work on a variety of projects, including investigations, trials, appeals, rulemaking, and general counsel matters. They will also receive training and supervision in specific practice areas and have the opportunity to earn a Certificate of Trial Advocacy by completing the Colorado Trial Advocacy Certificate Program. The DOL considers this program to be a pipeline for permanent employment, and Fellows may have the opportunity to apply for open positions during their fellowship term. Bar passage or eligibility to waive into the Colorado bar is required to join the program.
Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with other lawyers on various projects, including investigations, trials, appeals, rulemaking, and general counsel matters - Receive training and supervision in specific practice areas to enhance proficiency and develop skills - Assume substantial individual responsibility for work projects - Participate in a year-long professionalism series and have the opportunity to earn a Certificate of Trial Advocacy - Earn free CLE credits through the DOL, CBA, and PLI - Volunteer on office-wide impact teams
Qualifications:
- Recent law school graduates or those graduating by Spring 2025 - Commitment to public service and interest in the Fellowship Program - Strong writing skills and academic record - Confidence and ability to ask good and thoughtful questions - Intellectual curiosity and passion for public service
Compensation and Benefits:
